AJT Education
AJT Education offers consultancy, coaching, and training to support learning, behaviour, and wellbeing across schools and educational settings.
The focus is on developing clear, integrated approaches and systems that strengthen pedagogy, leadership, communication, and the conditions in which both learning and people can thrive over the long term.
My work focuses on four interconnected areas that together support sustainable improvement in learning, behaviour, and whole-school practice.
Leadership, clarity and systems: Supporting leaders to develop clear vision, shared values, and streamlined systems and procedures that enable consistency, sustainability, and effective decision-making across the school.
Intrinsic motivation and the joy of learning: Developing confidence, motivation, and engagement through a clear and accurate application of mastery-based pedagogy, so that success is rooted in learning processes rather than performance alone.
Mindful Education: A practical, developmentally appropriate approach to attention, self-regulation, and emotional resilience in schools — integrated into daily practice rather than added as a standalone programme.
Culture for learning and relationships: Using language, communication, and an understanding of unconscious learning to create classrooms and school cultures that reduce fear, support participation, and enable constructive responses to challenge and conflict.

My Approach
My work is grounded in a clear understanding of how learning, behaviour, and organisational change take place in real educational settings. I focus on approaches that are sustainable, context-sensitive, and practical to implement.
Understanding and collaboration
I listen first to understand context, priorities, and pressures before offering potential next steps. Change is most effective when schools retain ownership and confidence in decision-making, rather than adopting externally imposed solutions.
From theory to practice
Practical strategies are built on a clear and accessible understanding of underlying theory. This ensures that approaches can be adapted thoughtfully, reflected on, and sustained over time, rather than applied superficially or inconsistently.
Big picture and fine detail
I work with both the wider system and the day-to-day realities of school life. By attending to structural factors alongside language, relationships, and classroom practice, it becomes possible to address root causes rather than symptoms.
Clarity, compassion, and honesty
Lasting improvement depends on open communication and shared responsibility. My approach avoids blame and fault, creating the conditions for honest reflection, learning, and meaningful change.
Testimonials
Gina Macaluso | Lead Teacher - 4th Grade (American system)
Alex Thrall is an extraordinary educator and leader who completely transformed my perspective on teaching and communication. As the principal of a brand-new school, he set the foundation for a community built on genuine connection, mutual respect, and meaningful dialogue. Alex has an exceptional gift for helping educators connect deeply with themselves, their colleagues, and their students, fostering an environment where everyone feels seen and heard. Alex’s guidance empowered us to focus on positive, impactful relationships in the classroom.
His expertise in differentiation and practical activities is unmatched. His strategies are not only effective but also incredibly accessible for busy educators. Without a doubt, he was the best administrator I’ve ever worked with, and I wholeheartedly recommend his consultancy services to anyone looking to elevate their approach to education.
Phida | Teacher | Religious Studies, Chemistry, Biology - Year 7-13
Mr. Alex Thrall is a phenomenal teacher trainer and it was an honour for me to be trained by him. Though I did a two-year teacher training programme, B. Ed (Bachelors in Education), I still needed to learn about teaching when I joined a new school with Cambridge curriculum, because I was trained in the Indian curriculum. I was anxious when I first started teaching and learning the new system but to my relief and delight, I met Mr. Alex.
He generously offered to guide me and we would sit for a couple of hours weekly discussing teaching and classroom management.
I can say with certainty that what I did not learn in my two-year teacher training programme, I learned from Mr. Alex in two weeks. He taught me what teaching and learning truly is which helped me approach the classroom from a different perspective and also gave me a lot of confidence to stand in front of the students. Moreover, another reason why I truly appreciate his mentorship is that he never discarded the formal training I had but rather incorporated it into the teaching that he was giving me.
I have grown as a teacher and my teaching has become better since I received guidance from Mr.Alex Thrall. I am eternally grateful to him and for him.
Anna | Teacher - Reception / Year 1
Alex Thrall was a breath of fresh air to our school. His enthusiasm for education inspired us all and the suggestions he gave were easy to implement. Alex is unthreatening and works with teachers from where they are at, giving something to think about for everyone. We felt thoroughly rejuvenated by this unique and passionate educator!
Within numeracy specifically, Alex motivated us to ask deeper, open ended questions. He also stretched us to go through the concrete and pictorial before attempting the abstract. These techniques have helped deepen both the teachers’ and students’ enjoyment of the subject.
